They were untouchable. The Black children - born into a world of power, with nothing required of them beyond being examples of perfection. They had everything; wealth, power, looks. It was silently acknowledged that they were in control of tomorrow.
What had happened?
The same thing happened to all of them; though each in their own way. Loathe though one may be to admit it and reluctant as the other may be to put that particular word to it, it really is quite simple.
There is a power that no one really understands, though everyone experiments with it. There is a locked room in the Department of Mysteries solely devoted to studying this inexplicable power. This power that breaks down and builds up in equal measure; it heals and hurts, can make you smile or cry, makes you do stupid things and allows you to laugh about it later.
It changes the course of lives with a seemingly trivial event; a shared compartment on a train; a teacher promoting inter-house relationships.
The long answer would take much to long to explain, but Ill leave you in possession of a few key facts.
When the Black children had been young, their family had been their world. They drifter apart, but were always tied together by a shared childhood; keeping each other entertained, watching parties from the top of the staircase, sneaking firewhiskey from the kitchens, whispering to each other long after they should have been asleep.
Bellatrix Black, no matter how far shed fallen into the Dark Arts, never once entertained the thought of hurting her sister.
Sirius Black left his home, but no matter how hard he tried, he could never leave the memories that shaped him into who he was.
Narcissa Black was said to be cold and never showing affection for anyone. Those who said that knew her only after every sibling and cousin was gone.
Something compelled Regulus Black to turn his back on Voldemort, sealing his fate in the process, and delivering the first real blow against the Dark Lord.
Andromeda Black watched her daughter join the Order of the Phoenix, but refused to take an active role in the war because she couldnt fight the people she grew up with; people so similar to her, only they didnt have the strength to break away.

Sirius - Kevin Zegers
Regulus - Gaspard Ulliel
Bellatrix - Amy Lee
Andromeda - Kiera Knightly (in a few scenes Samarie Armstrong)
Narcissa - Christina Ricci
