Masking Tutorial for Vegas Movie Studio (AKA-Masking on Gimp)

Several people have asked me how I mask since I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum which, as some of you may know, does not have a masking capability, among other things. Some others have asked me how to mask on Gimp. Well, since it's hard to explain in print, I decided to do a tutorial. (Yes, I promised some of you this a long time ago so please forgive me for barely finishing this. I actually deleted the last one I had worked on by accident) This is my first tutorial so I hope it's helpful. If the words go by too fast just pause. I timed it with my brother and myself and the speed was fine for us, but that's just us.

BTW, there are probably different methods you can use in the end to mask on gimp. This is just how I do it.

When i hit "cut," the cut out area turns white instead of the gray squares (nothing is there basically). Any idea?

 (4:23) Layer, Transparency, Add Alpha Channel. That should work.

when u say masking, it doesnt acually tell you how to put one movie part ontop of another, which is what maskking is and so now im confused and still lost
