Surboum ok44b. Vocal: Franco, assisted by Kwamy.

piquedard translated:

Liwa ya Emery
The Death of Emery (1)

Oh mawa vraiment na liwa ya Patrice
Oh how sad, so sad, that Patrice is dead
Oh ndenge nini tokolela ye
Oh how are we going to cry for him?

Tango ekoki te
It wasnt time yet
Lumumba Patrice akeyi na mawa
Lumumba Patrice has regrettably passed away
Bationalistes balati mpiri
The Nationalists are all in black
Po na liwa ya martyr Emery, ngo mawa
Mourning the death of Emery, the martyr, oh so sad!

Lumumba, soki okoyoko ngai
Lumumba if you can hear me
Banationalistes bomana pasi
The Nationalists are persecuted
Po na kombo ya MNC
Because they belong to the (2)MNC (Mouvement National Congolais)
Zonga mbala ata ya suka
Come back even for the last time
Tokumisa yo na kombo ya Uhuru(?) (unaudible, sorry!)
So we can praise you in the name of Uhuru (3)

Lumumba akofeli lUnité Nationale
Lumumba was murdered because he wanted our country to remain united
Oh bana na ye nani akobokolo
Oh who will raise his children?

Remarks:

(1)The guitar intro of this song is something really special and shows how great Franco was! The solo is exactly the tones of the Kyrie Eleison (Love Have Mercy) sung in the Catholic Church when commemorating someones death, indeed!

(2) Lumumba's Party

((3))Uhuru = Independence in Swahili. Unfortunately; Im not able to hear exactly Francos word. But logically, Uhuru should be the right one. Lets remember that Franco didnt speak Swahili and might encounter difficulties to articulate properly Uhuru while playing the guitar and singing

  • Tell you what, this song should be the Congolese national anthem! Franco, if anybody, knew then Lumumba's murder meant the end of the Congolese Independence...Thanks again for posting, Aboubacar!

  • Mobutu was fucking evil man. He thought he was god. The irony is that he's now dead. He is a dead man. God is eternal, without beginning or end. Mobutu killed Lumumba and his friends with the help of the CIA, he took the power and, for more than 25 years of his presidency, this crap destroyed our country, RD Congo. He killed whoever didn't think like him. He stole his own people money and he put that money in banks in Europe. Mobutu was a trash. I'm glad he's gone.

  • Yes, Mobutu was an evil man may his soul burn in hell forever. Lumumba was a national hero to the Congo and the Congolese people, a great and courageous man. And if I am not mistaken the late great Franco, was sent to prison many times by Mobutu. Yusuf Abdul-Malik

  • ALLAH WILL PUNISH YOU CIA AND YOU FUCKING BELGIANS!!

LUMUMBA MAY HE REST IN PEACE

GUYS LIKE HIM WE WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

  • @fumaki1 je crois c'est Mpolo Maurice et Okito, si je ne m'abuse

  • @fumaki1 si je ne me trompe la personne avec Lumumba,c'est Bolikango.

  • I have a theory that the Belgians and later Mobutu encouraged and supported music to thrive in Congo in order to divert the Congolese from the business of developing serious political leadership and education. I read somewhere that at Independence Congo had only 9 university graduates. The murder of Lumumba and members of his cabinet almost decapitated the entire Congolese political elite, and created the space for musicians like "Dr" Nico, Franco, Tabuley etc to become the new social elites.
