  • what job is left after the infrastructure is built?

  • Infrastructure will continue to need maintenance, and repair and replacement.

And if we exit the recession then homes and offices and factories will have a pent up demand for repair and replacement.

And if our economy begins to grow again there we be demand for new homes and offices and factories and infrastructure.

  • For example let's say a million dollar infrastructure project could provide 10 jobs for a year. If you look at a comparable small business that makes a product for a million a year and employs 10 workers, well if that business is losing 20% a year then they may go out of business and loss 10 jobs. Those 10 jobs could be saved for 1/5th the cost of 10 government jobs. Or if you find five such small businesses than for the same 1 million that creates 10 jobs you could create 100 jobs.

  • You think the private sector is going to build bridges for free?

Govt has been overspending but you make a weak arguement.

  • Thanks for the comment Turbo. One of the main reason I post videos here is to get feedback and improve my understanding and opinions. I think you are correct that my thoughts are weakly stated here so let me try again in the two following comment posts.

  • I think bridges should be built when needed and I think the citizens of local governments should best decide when, how, and how much to make infrastructure improvements rather than having the federal government make those decisions.

But my video was intended to make the point that for the purpose of stimulating jobs - money spent in the private sector could create a lot more jobs than an infrastructure project. See my next post.

  • @Turbo291 No, but they probably won't be relying on cash they didn't earn.

  • Business doesn't pay us. They don't pay taxes, they collect them, from who? Us, the consumer. We are taxed on what we make, what we spend, through business taxes (built into the price of the product), inflation (a hidden tax), then we're taxed when we die.

Sure it would be nice to have good roads All you people complaining about our roads being in shambles, come to Texas.

The roads are great. Our government does not operate like Washington.

So. what is the gas tax for anyway? Roads?

  • taxes are paid proportionally by those least able to avoid it. Business do pay taxes in that the COST of their goods goes up with them passing on taxes, less sales is less profit (taxes here) and less salary or opportunity for advancement for employees(taxes here) taxes are always shared at some level. Consult a supply and demand graph explanation of taxes to make the point more clear.

  • The Great Malato Mystery!!!!!

  • janitor

  • Stop paying taxes End of socialism! Because this type of govt is too deep into it now!

  • you are an idiot. plain and simple.

  • Buisnesses do pay taxes, they match the employee's tax. So if employee has to pay 100 dollars Buisness matches that and sends 200 to the IRS.
