A long time ago my mate Roger and I were installing electronic telephone exchanges.
RG was one of our faves - we had a battered old Dolby C cassette deck.
In Your Town was one of those tracks that upped the output rate.
Also we'd put it on when the local tech pissed us off.
Remarks like "You b*****ds really are in my town and I can't f***in' wait to see the back of you.
RIP Rory - so glad I found your music mate.

in my drunken opinion this man is THEE man. I was a doors struck teenager when rory died and i only wish i was a bit older so a could have seen some of the men i worship. R.I.P rory ,john martyn, jim morrison and lots of others thanks form the music guys i'll never forget any of you.

MasterClass!

Exactly ;) Rory was a true master of using those tiny techniques that you can make with your bare hands on the guitar. He didn't need a huge board of pedals to make his playing sound interesting. Most people don't realize that today.
Check out Calling Card from Hammersmith in 1977 or 1976. He did a stunning job with the tone knob there as well!
Long live Rory!

One of Rory's cooler techniques: when he used the tone knob while playing slide to simulate a wah like on display at 4:30 and at the end. I always love that.
This performance has really got the essence of Rory live. (Of course, the one element that was always present that's missing here is the crowd that has been worked into a lather.)

Stunning. Who could possibly follow that?

No matter how many times I hear this or any other version of this track it sends a chill up my spine, for raw edged passion Rory had few peers.
