The Water Music is a collection of orchestral movements, often considered as three suites, composed by George Frideric Handel. It premiered in the summer of 1717 when King George I requested a concert on the River Thames. The concert was performed by 50 musicians that joined King George I on his barge. King George I was said to have loved it so much that he ordered Handel to play the suites three times on the trip.

The term hornpipe refers to one of several dance forms (in a lively 3/2 or 3/4 time, often syncopated) played and danced in Britain and elsewhere from the late 17th century until the present day.

  • two horns instead of a horn and trombone... interesting...

  • Well, we didn't have a trombonist handy. Well, my wife, but she has her own hobby. And the woman playing horn has an incredible lower range. So, it worked out pretty well especially on other pieces.

  • well thats pretty cool... its makes an interesting tonal blend for the particular piece...

ive heard this in traditional quintet... and quintet with a two trombones... but i think i like your instrumentations sound the best...

im also very impressed with the second horns low range... very quite clean...

  • Yeah. Nothing against trombonists. But, their sound can have a bit of a bite to it. The horn has a "rounder" sound to it. So, it worked out well.

We're currently working on resurrecting the group, though with a more traditional instrumentation. Though, more likely a euphonium rather than a trombone.

Nothing against trombonists. But, it all depends on the friends we make.

  • only the music sounds good no offense..=p

  • Well, it was fun to play.

  • Wait a minute, where's the silver night on a turntable?!

  • I like it!

  • yall are out of tune very bad !

  • Two horns on this are lovely!

  • Very good!!!I loved it.

  • i actually like that idea... in my quintet my trombonist doubles on euphonium and switches appropriately to suit the tone of the song...

its just that conical vs. cylindrical thing that makes the trombone stick out...
