This is the abandoned army base Fort Tilden. Located near Breezy Point just over the Gil Hodges Memorial / Marine Parkway Bridge in New York. A very BeAuTiFuL place overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, The Manhattan Skyline, Brooklyn, Rockaway Beach and Riis Park. There is alot to explore here. Trails leading everywhere. Graffiti filled abandoned military buildings. A huge, now disassembled gun turret that used to fire shells 28 miles. The Nike missile launch pad is still there. Something interesting around every turn and just over the hedges is the Atlantic Ocean! On a BeAuTiFuL day, as it was when I was there for these pics you can see for miles and miles. So BeAuTiFuL!

  • great shots!

  • some interesting art going on here lately, love that dcever go go rusto!!!

  • I grew up in Rockaway and spent time at Fort Tilden when it was active because my father was military. It was once a great place.

  • this has always been a beautiful section of N.Y., but now douchebag yuppie/hipsters are taking over, and asshole policemen are writing nonsense tickets, its a shame, i hope IRENE eats them all.

  • cool
