@hymnodyhands I've heard that before, but i couldn't get it to work now. I probably wouldn't be able to tell if it was a contra F anyways. Miller can reach the G just above without any hassle, so I wouldn't be surprised. I suppose Pasyukov and Wichniakov would reach it as well.

@KjeXXXer Thank you for the tip ... and do check Vladimir Miller singing Svete Tihij with the Valaam Choir here on YouTube, right at the very end. I do believe he may have that contra F.
-
@hymnodyhands Ah, right. The only contra F I know of is in Krsystoph Penderecki's Heruvimskaya Pesn, and it is never sung, because.. No one can fucking sing that!! :P They usually just sing the octave higher. You can find it on youtube and have a listen, it's a good piece.

@KjeXXXer I know it's not in the score... I checked the video by @VitaliyGR of this same piece, and sure enough, there's no F#. Maybe I'm hearing an undertone... occasionally my hearing picks up that kind of stuff.
-
@hymnodyhands A contra F#? I doubt that! At least it's not in the original score.

This is so beautiful... "Let My Prayer Arise" was the first piece by Pavel Chesnokov I ever heard, and this is a GORGEOUS version. Spasibo, Alexei!

@KjeXXXer Thank you... I went and found it, and it was LOVELY.

Is it just me, or is that an even lower F# before that ridiculously low B (in other words, is one or more of those bassos profondi coming UP to the B)?
Aside from that, this is the first piece by Pavel Chesnokov I ever heard, and that started me on my love of Russian Orthodox music... this version is especially lovely. Spasibo, Alexsei!

Incredable performance - such a Bass! But more than anything the pitch stays in contact!! Wonderful!

@4the3dom I believe Starodubtsev is a regular bass, and any profundos heard here are Pasuikov, Miller and the rest, who are in the background.
There is however, as you probably already know, a video of Yuri Wichniakov singing this song as a regular bass, but also doing the final deep notes as a profundo, as he was the only profundo in that particular ensemble. Anyone interested should search for Russian Patriarchate Choir, and you should find it.
This is not a bass, but a Basso Profondo. May be is Whishniakoff.

@4the3dom
It is Valeriy Starodubtsev. On the cd he is described as a bass. At the very least he is a very very low bass.
