thanks this worked for me! But the only problem is when i try to upload the video onto the windows movie maker program, a message pops up saying you need to download the codec which i have. Any ideas on fixing that? :/

You might need to use a different program. Or change your divx to a different file.
I'd recommend using Sony Vegas 8.0
Looks complicated but its very easy to use.
Give it an an hour or two of getting the hang of things. Hope this helped :).
