may be: but if you come to work for 7 $ a day, we will change from net to line fishing since we need 10 more people
-
NET fishing should be banned. THIS system is much much better.
-
Huh? This Bruises the fish, making them worth less, making fishers need to catch more to be profitable?? how is this more sustainable
-
its bonito???

Full respect to the guys line fishing man that looks like hard work - hardly any bycatch too thats gotta be good. Really though it's not the guys fishing making the big decisions - they're just trying to feed their families most the time. If there were better labelling around how fish are actually caught, and public pressure for sustainable fisheries, surely that would help ensure we don't run the stocks (further) into the ground? Or they could just ban these other methods (maybe even enforce)..

@spidercrab1234 are you saying that the ones in the video are small ones? those are skipjack tuna, not bluefin or yellow fin, skipjacks only grow to a max of 2 feet long and 20-30 pounds.
-
@WhiteGangster400 actually they have done this with large tuna usually 3-4 men on one fish though.

@spidercrab1234 Those are skipjack tuna and don't get much bigger than that.....Thats a pretty average adult size for those.
In Azores pole and line tuna fishery is certified as friend of the Sea, its a sustainable fishery.......

Let the little ones grow so it only takes a third to fill the boat compared to what they are taking there
