  • "Peter Brown called to say, you can make it ok, you can get married in Gibraltar near Spain, Christ, you know it ain't easy--" Just kidding. I liked it. very helpful. (For your trivia pleasure, peter brown was the only real person ever mentioned in a Beatles song; different peter brown, though).

  • @urbandiscount The cultivation of relative bodhicitta is useful because it creates the "selfless" attitude, that liberation is for all sentient beings, it's a safeguard by default, pushing attention beyond the individual which is illusory. An illusion cannot attain an illusion, which absolute bodhichitta reveals. The master is created through projection and has nothing the seeker doesn't already have. None are qualified or unqualified. Timeless, it isn't the start or end of any practice. U R IT.

  • @LyfeCentenz I'm aware of Garab Dorje's three statement. The only trouble I have with this sort of "teaching" is that often the master giving them is not qualified, and presents dzogchen as the start of practice. We're talking about ph-d studies here, not kindergarten! ppl seem to forget that at the point of The View, bodhicitta and the dzogchen exactly coincide! vd also the Vidya Kokila that points out precisely this point.

  • @urbandiscount The 3 statements of garab dorje that strike the essence were, direct introduction, absolute conviction and maintaining. He didn't say start with ngondro and cultivate bodhicitta THEN the 3 statements for a reason. If there is direct recognition of what dzogchen points to then it will become quite apparent that no preparation or effort is needed. But does take effort! It is experiential, prior to/and inclusive of any state of mind. True assimilation is rare. Beautiful teaching.

  • It is absolutely vital that bodhicitta is raised to a sufficient degree before aspiration to dzogchen. That is why there are preliminary practices. The thoughts expressed in this video perpetuate the popular and widespread misconceptions about dzogchen, which is a state of mind, NOT a path of practice. Neither does "emptiness" have different definitions in the different schools of buddhism. Quite harmful teaching.

  • Interesting. You should close jour mouth and open your eyes & ears. It is essential. What do you see? What do you hear? What color is your T-shirt? Don't open your mouth. Just see it clearly. Don't decieve yourself. Your eyes are healthy, so you can see. Your ears are healthy, so you can hear. You open your eyes and you see something. You open your ears and you hear something.

Separate things from names. Then what? Then you see & hear clearly. You see the color of your T-shirt. Sure it is red

  • Yep! :)

  • All glorious experiences are experiences guess that can at times be exciting but definitely no more special than normal every day now. Seems that way anyhow.

  • Beautiful.
