As promised, here's me blow-drying my hair. For my true night-out look, I might work a little more volume into it by completely drying it. What I do:
* Condition my hair and detangle it in the shower. Apply leave-in conditioner spray (Aussie's Hair Insurance) to protect hair from heat.
* Dryer settings: hot heat setting, low speed. Attach diffuser.
* Flip hair over and begin drying roots. Don't leave the dryer in one spot too long; keep moving. Repeat all over your head
* Next, begin drying the ends. Raise diffuser to "catch" ends in the cup, lift a little bit, and hold for about 2-5 seconds. Repeat all over.
* Stop while still damp, look in mirror to see if you like the curls where they are and the volume. Continue drying standing up for a time, or flip back over if you want more volume.
Remember, you don't have to blow your hair completely dry. Letting it air dry some will help soften the curls. When you're done drying, work a little smoothing lotion, a tiny bit of conditioner, or sweet almond oil in your hair.

So is using the diffuser absolutely necessary, or can it also work with just a regular blow dryer?

@ISmellYourPurple For my hair, the diffuser is absolutely necessary. (Most stylists and other curly girls agree.) Curls stay "smooth" when they aren't disturbed too much. Blow-drying curly hair with no diffuser separates the strands that curl together, causing frizz. The diffuser attaches to the blow dryer and lessens the force of the air hitting the hair. (Also not good: combing or running fingers through curly hair as it air dries. That separates the curls and causes frizz.)

Did you flip the camera off at 1:06?
It looked like you did~~~~`

@taloswiftandlautner1 No, I didn't cut the video at that point. It was a combination of the low light in my bedroom and the webcam. (I did edit it at other points because I'd never have had a video short enough otherwise!)

hi great video.. i was just wondering how long it took you to grow oyur curly hair that long>>./???

@blowthisbubblegum2 So sorry for it taking so long to respond...it's unforgivable really. My hair has been this length (a little shorter, a little longer) since 2003. I grew it out after having really short hair, then chin-length hair. I find the weight helps weigh it down and controls the curl.
