Obon is kind of like what Halloween used to be...a combination of a harvest festival and a day to respect the dead or old spirits. People are doing the Obon dance, while others play the taiko drums. The townspeople dress up in fancy (sometimes weird) costumes and they have a competition at the end to see what group had the best costume theme for the year. There should be about 2,200 people living in this town now.
