Avaya Outperforms Cisco on Energy Savings

The average energy savings from using Avaya VoIP phones ranges from 41.5% to 61.4% when compared head-to-head with comparable Cisco models. Tolly was commissioned by Avaya compare energy efficiency performance on the Avaya 9600 Series IP Deskphones against the new Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 series. The AT specification allows power consumption up to 25W. Avaya Energy Saver (AES ) was compared to Cisco EnergyWise in the independently verified report.  Testing confirmed AES lowered power an additional 9% when the dimming feature is activated while EnergyWise only option is termination of service.

Consumers should know Cisco’s 6900 series design uses the entirely proprietary 12 year old SCCP protocol which locks-in consumers to a Cisco design.
