New York debates merits of fracking

The US state of New York is considering whether to go ahead with a controversial form of gas drilling.
Activists want to keep a moratorium in place on hydraulic fracturing - also known as Hydraulic fracturing or "fracking."
Supporters say it will be good for the economy - but opponents say the practice puts the environment at risk.
Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports from New York's Otsego County.

@FREEDOMTOAMERICA I am in Oklahoma and we are getting to the point we are having more than 1 earthquake a day. Arkansas had the same problem. They banned the fracking and they stopped. I wish everyone would ban it.

enormous amount of money to be made that will be someones personal profit, but will be a social loss and environmental loss. Clean, renewable energy is the way to go. get away from unsustainable fossil fuels

In New York, New Jersey, Delaware and surrounding states, over 20,000 wells will be drilled...coming to your backyard. your water will be poisoned. even bathing in your bath water will be dangerous. you support fracking, you are stupid.
