  • Gutsy move taking your starting troops out of your main city right at the beginning, you could get stomped right away, although i'm playing on patch 2.00 of mom, and I got stomped 10 turns in by some gnoll raiders, 2 of the raider groups grouped up and stomped my main city, it was 5 halberdiers and 2 swordsman 10 turns in, I had no chance, but sometimes it happens :)

  • Oh wow - I didn't know that somebody had released a v2.00 patch.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  • What exactly are you doing in this video? Looks like an exploit.

  • The spell invulnerability reduces all damage taken by two.

Considering that most of the starting units only do about one damage on average, this is very considerable.

The main idea is to overwhelm the opponents with these 'invulnerable' units before they start producing hard-hitting units that can smash through the protection afforded by this spell.

  • Nice tactic. I love the Wraith tactic with 11 Death Books, but MoM is so amazing, it gives so many strategic options.

There are filters built into DOSBox that you can set up in the config to reduce blockiness in old games, a lot of the filters just blur it a little but it usually makes it easier on the eyes.

Definitely, I played it a lot as a wee lad. Can't say as to whether or not I was any good at it but I sure enjoyed it. :)

Another good one from back in the day (though not quite as old as this) is Master of Orion II.

  • Didn't even know this game exsisted until now, but it looks like an impressive game for its time.

  • I'm going to be getting this game soon. It looks like you have some sort of filter or patch or something that makes the graphics a bit sharper, if you use such a thing, could I get a link please? Thanks.

  • That looks fun. Steve Barcia also made Star Lords the game that became Moo 1, another great classic. I'll have to look at the rest of his games.

  • cheese

  • i cant undestand what is happening it move so fast, fuck you lol jk

  • Wow, recently I tried to win at impossible with 4 players(all Life books), but I failed. Althought I tried to cast Invulnerability on my hero Gunther, but the players had so much fantastic creatures who hit with magic... Also, macro of computer is really good (building cities, etc.).

My highest achievment is one impossible player, got nearly 85% at the end. (however, I played long-play, not rush at the begginng).

Anyway, liked your style of play, you are a truly Master of Magic. :)

  • Oh another heads up, the 2.00 patch changes some things, and makes the game a whole heck of a lot harder, some of the 'invinci' strategies like invulnerable guardian spirits no longer work. Also like I said prepare to get your butt handed to you repeatedly if you get started in a bad situation.
