As part of the "Two Weeks of Peace" event at Carnegie-Mellon University, the animated films Barefoot Gen and Barefoot Gen 2 were scheduled for showings on campus on September 25 and October 2, respectively. The films document the life of a boy in the days leading up to and immediately after the Hiroshima bombing and are based on the experiences of manga artist Keiji Nakazawa.
Gen belongs to a family of five, with another on the way, but his life is about to change forever. Already suffering from harsh wartime rations, the family is further devastated by the atomic bombing which leaves six-year-old Gen as the head of the household. He must try to survive the horrors of post-bomb Hiroshima with little food and water, bad shelter, and lingering radiation, while also keeping his sick mother and newborn sister alive.
I really like this one. The way the third panel with me on it in the intro comes in with the white bar really bugs me :P. Lol problem of doing things too fast :|.
