EnviroMission Limited is developing Solar Tower renewable energy technology on a global scale.

The sun's radiation is used to heat a large body of air under an expansive collector zone, which is then forced by the laws of physics (hot air rises) to move as a hot wind through large turbines to generate electricity.

A single power station development will have the capacity to supply renewable energy to more than 100,000 typical American households or remove the equivalent of 220,000 typical motor vehicles from the roads.

  • This is a brilliant idea. I really do hope that the one in AZ goes forward without a hitch, because it just makes sense--bright, hot desert, little seismic activity, and an air-conditioning dependent population of potential customers.

Also, may I ask the name of the song in this? It's GORGEOUS!

  • This will attract base jumpers =D

  • @Poofiemus guys combine this with nikola teslas wireless power tower "wardenclyffe tower" then use the energy and transport it to everyone wirelessly! please look it up, i show proof of wireless power on my youtube. lets combine both technologies!

  • Great

  • im confused what the purpose of the tower is though , looks like a sun dial, the video dosent explain it

  • Song title:

Two Steps From Hell - Enigma

  • @Aierwin Two Steps From Hell - Enigma

  • @Kelthx Two Steps From Hell - Enigma

  • What song is this????????

  • @mobius1234 doubt ful;, if something goes wrong and you crash through their extremely epensive solar panels, they won't be happy.

  • Whats the song name?

  • My body is ready.

  • Why dislike this video anyway .

  • بحلم بيه لبلدي بجد .

  • this can be a future should have like 6 of them in new york and s.f any city and towns too

  • @GreatWallStr1 Eh! Most green solutions overestimate the energy demands needed just to build these things.

I joke because GOV subsidized projects like these often do more to stuff pockets with holes in them than do any real good. You know like Al Gore!

That said the tech looks like it could be combined with some sort of farm. Cool tech bad politics. Sadly we wouldn’t have this problem if Al Gore would stick to investing his own money.

  • @TeboFire With such an enormous amount of desert space on the planet, this isn't needed. :) Obviously you were joking, but still... I'm sure some might assume such power plants would take up enough space to require cutting away forests (and protest such), and I want to clarify to those individuals that there is more than enough room for these. :)

  • To be more efficient it needs to separate the different frequencies of light (ultraviolet, visible, etc..) and direct that light to separate panels. I am unsure if that would still allow plants to grow underneath but solar panels aren't 100% efficient anyways so I am sure tons of light will still escape to the plants. I also want to see desalination ideas and how we can produce more freshwater!

  • This Track is Enigma by Nick phoenix & Thomas bergesen

  • If it does what I think it does, it's brilliant. They got too much sun, why not turn the excess rays into energy, then let a healthy amount seep through to nourish the underneath vegetation.

It's not problem free though. Eg. large buildings need a steady fundament to rest on. Sand is not suitable.

But it's definately a good idea.

  • Hope GlaDOS dusnt get in there..........NO VALVE!

  • @bbeirinckx when I saw this comment I immediately thought of a parabolic cooling tower design and wondered how much more this would add to it's efficiency .

  • The sad thing is this is the kind of thing the idiots in Dubai should have been doing instead of buying ferrari go carts and building private islands.

  • Thermals to send the first birds to space.

  • We should cut down all our trees and build these all over the world.

  • anyone have a Minecraft version yet?
