In most cases you would have died. We are trained not to bail in situations like this. There is far more protection in the cab than on the ground with 30000 tons of railcars piling up around you.

I doubt seriously that the trains tipped over esp the engines, you don't often see the 300+ ton freight train engines tipped over as opposed to the much lighter passenger train locomotives

The locomotives not only tipped over, but they were strewn all over the place.

BTW...passenger locomotives are not that much lighter. Not those currently being built in NA anyway.
