XBMC playing live TV using mythtv 0.23 as a backend. In order to view Live TV on XBMC, three things must be accomplished.

1. A working installation of MythTV 0.23
2. The ip-address and hostname of your server/backend must be set in /etc/hosts of any computer you wish to view live TV on.
3. Add a new source to XBMC using your mythtv username and password. myth://username:password@ip-address

Yes, XBMC is the slowest of all the GNU/Linux TV viewers, but that is because XBMC is communicating with Mythbackend to view TV.

  • Why is the changeing channel taking so long, what is the problem? I am looking for an solution like this but the time it takes to switch channel is terrible :/
