Some may find this funny but my ears heard: "oh, yes I'll do drugs.....but I can tell you, this is no lie." As in, smoke some weed and one feels intensely unified with everything. Then, sobriety returns and the world has sharp edges again. But this is different, this is no lie, the world is headed for a period of unprecedented growth and positive change. Now I know what some of the people from the 'sixites felt like ;-)

This book called Ishmael inspired a lot of the lyrics on this album. Most of the book is a conversation between an ape and a human male. This line reflects a lot that stuff -- what it means to be human, our role in the world, and of course, notions of masculinity.

I know a lot of the internet lyric sites say "and." They are just plain wrong. 99% sure. If I could only find the liner notes... "And" makes no sense.
