We're crashing a transit appreciation day at Carleton - to let students know that the OTrain is going to be cancelled for 3 full years under the city's proposed LRT project plan.

  • Yes. With the city's preferred "option 4" bus+rail plan, the O-Train will be replaced with electric double track, essentially a technology swap pushing the price into the stratosphere. During that phase the O-Train will be shut down.

  • Is the cancellation still true today? Early July 2008?

  • Yes, OCTranspo planners finally woke up and in Spring 2007 realized that if they extend the O-Train line south to Leitrim they can reduce the need for more buses traffic downtown, where Albert and Slater are already at full capacity.
