  • In terms of readily accessible, free resources, the Wikipedia article isn't bad. Also free online through Google books is Modern ESCA: The Principles and Practice of X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, by Tery Barr. One resource available from Amazon or a library is Chapter 2 of Surface Analysis by Auger and X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, by David Briggs and John Grant. -- hope this helps.. - Tom
