@bookbagged The Mexica had a splendorous civilization. Read Daily Life of the Aztecs by Jacques Soustelle. It details beautifully the life of Tenochtitlan. Also, Smallpox played a very huge part in the "conquest" of the hemisphere.

I believe this was a real hymn detailing the fall of Tollan but Christian elements were added on later.

What the is the Christian god doing in this video?

Music After invasion. Then, dogmatism.
Then, mejicanos sin cultura. Sin x

It's really sad to see that some people are still obsessed with power, even in the symbolic pissing match of "my ancestors were better than your ancestors".
-
@bookbagged you make no sense, your ancestors are nothing compared to the aztecs
-
@bookbagged so what i dont like your ava marie, and the aztecs didnt either

@1980vince Aztecs were conquered and given incentives by missionaries to play European music. Ave Maria isn't from Mexico.
-
@1980vince Not Italian? It most certainly is. Go check out some of the music from the Venetian School in late Renaissance, early Baroque. The Aztecs were conquered, no doubt about that -- though you have to wonder if they would have been if they were not such a great empire in the first place!
Please go to the musicians website. SAVAE (San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble).

good music, although I don't think its Italian, it sounds Nahuatl, the language of the aztecs, I know a few words in that language and one of them is Xochitl (flower), which I could have sworn I heard them sing a few times. I know all the endings in "o" can throw you off, nahuatl has a lot of words ending in "o" also

You are correct it is Nahuatl. I was referring to the the word meraviglioso.

I don't remember too much Italian but some words don't need absolute translations to communicate good wishes. Thank you Roberto.
