actually you will find that 'sparkle' or glitter yarn was in use in the 1950s. Some knit patterns for sweaters and cardigans call for a metallic thread yarn for evening wear.

I remember sweater sets. I also remember the "lettermen" cardigan sweater "look". Girls would wear their boyfriend's letterman sweater. For a letterman sweater to be considered "cool" for 1950s teens, you HAD to be able to walk with your hands in its pockets and your arms would remain straight. You then looked hip, cool, and casual. (You also advertised that you had a boyfriend.) If you didn't look like the above-mentioned look, your friends would shake their heads and call you "pathetic".
Honestly, If you're going to try to demonstrate something please learn it before you spout off random information.
