@KISSMUSIC2000 That bullshit. I mean, yeah, I love the first Howling, it's a classic, i have the dvd. But NOT all remakes are bad! You should at least just give it a chance.

@amandareece those were great.
Bad Moon, American Werewolf in Paris, and don't forget (IMO the greatest werewolf movie, and consequently, stephen kings greatest movie, SILVER BULLET) were also good ones.

I am so glad I was able to enjoy these movies when they came out as some of you did too. It's funny to see what we grew up with to today's CGI effects. say "Underworld" or Twlight. Take Twlight they rip through there skin in 2 seconds and run arould looking like a normal wolf. Then look back to this filem watching Eddie transform, Twlight and movies like that do not even come close to the special effects we grew up with.

@amandareece First time i saw the Howling when I was 10, could not sleep for like 3 nights and kept seeing pointed ear wolf shadows on the walls at night from streetlights, lol!

Yeah, I like CGI creatures cause they look really cool, but movies where the werewolves and other things are real people in realistic costumes, prosthetics and makeup are more scary.
They look more like they could come out of the screen and get you and those are the movies that when you watch them before you go to bed you here all the sounds around you more clearly. Each noise you are like, what was that noise.
Dog Soldiers, Howling, Werewolf in London, Waxworks, ECT...

@amandareece Yeah, I like Van Helsing but the werewolves clearly look CGI unlike the more realistic looking werewolves from way back then.

would've been hotter if at the end of howling 1 if we saw her strip down bare ass and do the whole transformation. I would love to see Dee Wallace naked!

CGI Werewolves are cool looking like in Van Helsing, but NOTHING beats the actor being made up in prosthetics and makeup like in Howling and Dog Soldiers. It gives it more of a real life scary effect, like you are watching a real werewolf that might can come out of the tv screen and get you. With CGI, its cool looking and visually appealing, but CGI looses the realistic aspect, like you are looking at a real werewolf, you can tell if its CGI.

I was 16 when this movie premiered; I took my girlfriend to it at the Mall in Lakeland Florida. She was scared shitless, but that was okay, since I got to hold onto her for two hours lol. I loved the real-time, organic, physical approach with regard to the transformation scenes; pneumatic air chambers and fantastic makeup combined to make the scenes look startlingly real. I always thought the werewolves' ears were too large and protruded out at odd angles, however. Great movie and memory.
