@xShelboTronx I respect myself, it's my choice to drink, just as it's their choice not to, I don't agree with a lot of what this band believes in, but I have tattoo's dedicated to their music, and what it means to me, it will never make me less of a person because I drink, and they don't. People need to learn to seperate the music from their personal beliefs, we're all going to die in the end, "slowly" no matter what we do in between, just enjoy life however you feel fit.

I have met a few kids who have done drugs and heaps that smoke, I'm 15 and they are younger and older, a wide range. While I won't be around them smoking and drinking as long as I can't smell it on them an they are in good health i won't judge. Also drugs are a bad thing true but strong people take them sometimes too. One girl I met was an abused girl living in fostercare taking drugs and she was the one of the nicest and toughest girls I had met in a long time.

@xDEMONIZEDx Yeah, I don't know everything that's afflicting people, but I also didn't compare their lives to mine. Maybe I do have acceptance issues, but they stem from not wanting to be around those who are (literally and figuratively) toxic to both themselves and others. Here's what it comes down to: People who are truly strong don't need chemicals. I'm not gonna say anything about medicinal uses, because that is a valid reason, but you'll notice that those are prescribed, not taken illegaly.

@kagari616 My main point is this: unless you know everything afflicting a single person, don't attempt to liken their situation to yours. Also, don't think for a second that because you're straight edge that eliminates you from the "worthless sack of shit" category. Many of the kids that I met in that scene were the biggest piles of shit that I have every come across. Also, most of them are doing dick shit with their lives. You clearly have some serious acceptance issues.

@kagari616 On a similar note; some psychoactives are linked to the controlling of some forms of distress. Cluster headaches are being treated currently with psychoactive drugs, which seems to be the only effective treatment. Cluster headaches are described by some doctors as being the most painful experience in known medicine, some say several times worse than child birth. Perhaps if you were a victim of cluster headaches, you would feel differently.

@kagari616 Also, most addicts are also afflicted with other mental disorders, and many can't find or afford the help that they need. As a result, they self-medicate. What I love about most straight edge kids, yes kids, is that they believe everyone is privvy to the same sort of environment that many of them grew up in. Abusive parents don't pay for counseling typically. As a result there are people running around with, maybe several, mental disorders and have no way around it but to get high.

@kagari616 It's called addiction. I ask you this question: why do you have to label yourself as Straight Edge? Why can't you just make a commitment to live your life drug free without adding the label to it? I was straight edge for years, and that was one question I often came back to. There are health benefits to many drugs. Guinness, a beer, contains iron, polysaccharides, fish oils, and protein; the good out weighs any temporary bad effect.
