Crews were dispatched to the 2300 block of Wheeler for a reported vacant house fire. On arrival heavy fire was reported in the rear of the building. This was the second fire within two hours and both buildings were sites of previous fires. The front was opened and lines were stretched in. The attic area flashed about half way through. Nobody was hurt at either fire.

  • My cousins old block (Black Oak)

  • @mabas21 heavly involved

  • @garyco99 no only a backdraft

  • I agree no flash over. Flashover is when all things in the area reach their ignition temperature at the same time. At the begining of this film we see that the structure almost 100% is free burning. When we see that high energy turbulant fire from the window what is percieved as flashover is more likely the change of wind direction. Or an opposing hoseline pushing the fire, but more than likely NOT a flashover. Just an observation from watching, I wasnt there obviously....Just sayin.

  • Ive seen a flashover explode. But then again what is an explosion. It might not go off like dynamite, but a violent and/or rapid ignition that triggers a rapid expansion is an explosion. You get a good shot 1:50 of the super heated gases igniting in a flashover, and given the right conditions ex. confined space, ventilated or not, yes it can cause an explosion by definition

  • A flashover occurs when the temperatures in a compartment are so elevated that all combustible fuels reach their autoignition temperature resulting in simultaneous ignition.

  • Scratch my last comment. Flashover is when everything is heated to ignition point and then does ignite almost simultaneously.

  • Hi, A flashover does not explode, a smoke explosion is part of a backdraft, which in this case is not a backdraft.

  • A flashover is an explosion. As far as I know at least.
