No one knew what to do with her. She could sing pop, country, rock, blues, jazz ie just about everything but it is very hard to be all things to all people. Stiff handled New Wave and off-beat acts like Lena Lovich and Rachel could morph but didn't quite fit the mould. Brilliant performer. She's done alright. And I think kept her sanity (which is more than a lot of 70s-80s era performers can say)
