COURTENAY - Family and friends of 19-year old James Denton are demanding Justice.

Signs and banners reading "Justice for James" are held in front of the Courtenay courthouse. The Denton family attends the second court appearance for the 16-year old accused of killing their son.

James Denton was stabbed during a confrontation between two groups leaving the "Rhythm on the Rock" concert Saturday night. His family says he was trying to break it up but got caught in the middle, Denton died in hospital a short time later.

James grew up in Port Hardy and the Comox Valley, he graduated from Highland Secondary School and was known to many as a good kid, one who was respectful and kind.

James learned to love the outdoors, spending many days hunting and fishing with family. He attended North Island College to pursue a career as an electrician.

The second court appearance for the 16-year old accused lasted just a couple of minutes, but before both families left the courtroom the judge warned them he intends to conduct the case with dignity and outbursts will not be tolerated.

That warning comes after emotions were high on Monday during the 16-year olds first court appearance.

He will make his next court appearance August 18th.

A celebration of life for James Denton will take place this Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Florence Filberg centre in Courtenay.
