POTO Audition - Think of Me - Christine and Carlotta

Okay so... just like my Wicked Audition, I did this in one sitting, and worked really hard to sound OK. My voice wasn't the best yesterday... so I apologize for some stupid mistakes (They mostly lie in the first section of the song... breathing problems, pitch...) but I feel like later in the song I was way more comfortable. Tell me what you guys think! I had to upload my first try because tommorow's the deadline for this thing and I'm going outta town. :( I wish I could've known about this weeks ago!! Alas. I only had 2 days to prepare.

So here's the deal! I'm trying out for Christine, but I almost know 100% that I won't get the part (there's a VERY good Christine out there and I think she deserves it!!) So I added a little Carlotta bit at the end. I also understand if I don't get that part either... I have very little material I submitted and my voice wasn't brilliantly fabulous, as I mentioned before. But, good enough.

So... chorus member, balle girl... whatever! I'm glad with any part, really. I'd be sad if I didn't at least try out and get *A* part in PHANTOM! (my ultimate favorite musical/movie/obsession of all time!!)

So... please comment... and I'll be back this sunday afternoon to see if I got a part! This was so much fun. Thanks for allowing me to do this!

Your breathing or timing is a little weird in some places and you went flat a little on some notes, but you do have a very sweet and pretty soprano vocal register, just a little thin (maybe due to breathing?). Oh, and you dropped off on some words, try to use dynamics to end a note??? In my opinion, it almost sounded a bit mechanical and detached too? However, seeing as this song is really hard song and you probably know these things anyway (just in bad condition) you did a great job. :]

@Suny807 Oh thanks for the lengthy and rather helpful comment! As I sang this over two years ago, I've improved much since then (I cringe when I hear this, and agree.) But I'll try to keep all this in mind. Do you honestly think my soprano register is a little forced or do I really have a good soprano natural voice? I guess I'm a little uncertain if I could ever sing this and get away with it... I mainly sing mezzo-soprano stuff and I'm Eponine in my school play of Les Miserables. Thanks!

It's hard to know what to say since, as you said, this is an older video... but I think the key is all in the the breathing, phrasing, and your vowels. Really looking over the lyrics and "mapping out" places where it's okay to breathe might help, thinking about phrasing. Then you can naturally know the right spots. Vowel work will help with the breathing and also with the sound. But don't worry, you have a very good and light soprano voice.

no! i wish! I've just been into Phantom for a very very long time.... BECAUSE of Phantom I got into singing. I haven't tried to sing Christine for such a long time (because i sing so many other things!) But when I came back to it i didn't do so bad. :D thank you!
