  • I notice that he has a very straight legged stance, that seems different from what I'm used to seeing, I'd think in an art like this where movement is so incredibly fast, one would want a stance with a lot of balance. Does he keep his legs so straight because it's just a video or is there a reason?

  • Because Explorer Ferdinand Magellan Simple Underestimate the

    Filipino Martial Art

    "KALI" ,"Eskrima" or "Arnis"

He died in the Battle of Mactan

  • Some good basic techniques here.

  • Great video! Had a chance meet Master Sipin in Chicago last year, very cool guy.

  • @kyokaido99 Yep. He is a very good instructor. He is a former police officer(SWAT Team). He travels internationally, and trains law enforcement, and military.

He teaches Doce Pares, as well as Krav Maga-type of martial arts. He also teaches a firearms/security class. Oh, and a bicycle safety class.

  • is this philippine martial arts right?

  • @ lasalle1alpha: If your Eskrima trainier teaches Panantukan/ Dumog beside your weapons training you do not need another art, but training in a second art is always good, widens your horizont. And yes Pekiti Tirsia is good, so is Sayoc Kali, so is Silat Lincah, so is Lightning Scientific Arnis or Doce Pares and so on. It is mostly how you train, not what you train.

  • That's my instructor!

  • At Tom's level the ability to use your thumb to grab while checking is a simple task. Keeping the index finger open allows for mor rotation in th wrist. I'm sure he teaches his students to hold a knife tight with all fingers. You need to take into account the skill level of someone whose videos you watch. Not compare it to your present level of awareness.

  • ohh ya his thumb is off to check better too. =P
