@imikewillrockyou If there is not much wind in your area then maybe solar is a better option, PV for electricity and evacuated tubes for hot water since most energy go to heating things and and evacuated tubes are more efficient than PV and will cost lees considering the same amount of energy.
If the wind speed is half you get 8x less power so wind speed is quite important not just the consistency of the wind.

In residential area a Savonius is much better less noise since the speed of rotation is under the speed of the wind it also works great in turbulent winds.
