This conference, held on 10 September 2008, showcased case studies of local authorities that have developed a cross-council and strategic approach to delivering reading. The case studies demonstrated the contribution that reading (and literate citizens) can have on local authority priorities. Other speakers highlighted the impact that reading can have on individual lives.
The objective of the conference was to advocate a cross-council approach to reading to senior managers in local government and to engage other key stakeholders. If you are interested in finding out more about this approach then please email the NYR Local Government Manager, Emily Thorne at emily.thorne@yearofreading.org.uk
