  • I have a video somewhere of my dad, Larry Hall, on American Bandstand or maybe it was Ed Sullivan. I was also sent some fan mags, photos, and memorabilia from when he and his parents went up and down the coast marketing his new record on the Hot label. It was eventually picked up on the Strand label. I have the original letter of intent from Harry Maslow. It was nice to look at those things from my dads past.

  • @gmdallas1 Ahh, please post that video, I would love to see it and I don't believe I'm alone in requesting this. Also I would love to see the photos & memorabilla, wow, I'm excited that you preserved it all and have ownership. I've always loved your Dad's music, I guess that's quite obvious. Such a nice soft pleasant voice, perfect.

  • Great song. Thanks for sharing !!

  • @CHECKMATEJASPER Your very welcome!

  • Larry Hall recorded and released "Sandy" in late 1959..he also appeared on American Bandstand in late 1959..."the song got as high as # 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in January of 1960..Larry Hall also co-prduced "Suspicion" for Terry Stafford in 1964..and"The In Crowd" for Dobie Gray in 1965. He died of cancer in 1997.....a classic from the early days of rock'n'roll...

  • I never seen him on American Bandstand. If you ever find the vid on youtube please send it to me, i'd love to see it!

  • @gmdallas1 Hello: I went to high school in jersey city, a classmate was singing your fathers song, "SANDY' to his girlfriend while walking in the hall,, her name was Sandy. He had an am radio in his hand and his arm around Sandy. My wifes' name is Sandy. ....what a wonderful song...only he could do this song....no one else.

    Thank you.

  • My mothers name was Sandy. When I was young, my dad told me he wrote this song for her. It wasn't until I was old enough to read the 45's label that I realized he was pulling my leg. Funny how much I wanted to believe him.

  • A great song, thanks for posting

  • @boobeejoo This is one of those stories that hitS home with me!!! I had a reel to reel tape recording and a very large collection of 45's from the doowop era and on thru ther 70's, and all my favorites are now avaliable on something called the internet(youtube)....I know, who'd of ever thought music would be avaliable at the cllick of a mouse. I will admit not all is avaliable from the doowop era but Sandy is and that's important!..now Thx4 keeping her posted/THE INTERNET..A FINAL FRONTIER!

  • thank so much I have this song on reel to reel tape and carry all the way from Thailand,

The machine is no longer work , so nice to hear again from UT now I have it on my playlist.

  • Thanks for posting this. My favorite cousin was named Sandy and when I was a kid we played this all the time. Later her copy got destroyed in a flood and I was lucky to find a Larry Hall cd through some strange catalog. What great songs he had. Too bad not many people got a chance to hear him. A true treasure.
