Strickland was involved in an automobile accident, suffering injuries that forced him to retire. He moved into a care home in Senatobia, Mississippi. Though incapacitated Strickland was still pleased to have visitors, occasionally requesting his caretakers to bring out his harmonica in order to entertain as long as his strength permitted. Napolian Strickland lived the remainder of his days in this home, but will be fondly remembered through the music of the Northern Mississippi Hill Country.
I use to wheel him out on that porch when he had visitors..I remember one time a man and lady came to see him and they kept asking me if I knew that I was taking care of a legend!
If this was filmed in 1998..I was working there. I wonder if it was you that was asking me that?...lol..now wouldnt that be funny!
