Eddie was the bandleader for Doye O'Dell's "Western Varieties" show, which ran for over 5 years on KTLA in the 50s. http://doyeodell.com

  • Leodie Jackson is my daddy i just found out that he has videos and music on line. I am 40 years old and I have 2 brothers: Michael Leodie Jackson and Bobby Leon Jackson. My daddy past away Sept. 20th, 1995. We were very close and i miss him so much. If anybody has any videos, music or other links with my daddy Leodie Jackson please contact me @ 918-429-3318 Thank you. Zella Jackson-Kincaid

  • Lately I have discovered that the steel player in this video is not Leodie Jackson, but is Al Vernon. Eddie had a few different steel players in "The Roundup Boys" and when I couldn't identify this steel player myself (and alzheimers disease prevented Eddie from identifying him), I relied on the word of a fan that this was Leodie. Sorry for the confusion. He has been identified as Vernon by more than a couple of steel guitar experts.

  • its from 1954. Before all the flying saucer hype really took off. Eddie has a CD for sale on Amazon (and other places) entitled "flying Saucer Boogie", with all his classic country music of the day. The song is also featured on many compilations, and can be purchased from itunes.

  • Check out Eddie Cletro's "Flying Saucer Boogie" here on Youtube. It's hysterical.

  • So this is Leodie Jackson??? Wow.

  • This clip is from 'Western Varieties', a popular show that ran on KTLA for 5-6 years in the early 1950's. Doye O'Dell was the host and Eddie Cletro and His Roundup Boys were the house band. The guys were Fiddles: Joe DeRose and John Stout, Accordian:Eddie Carver,Bass:Bill Flynn, Steel: Leodie Jackson,(Ernie Ball and Tommy Sargent were alternate steel players for Cletros band) and Muddy on the drums. Eddies stratocaster was 1 of 3 made especially for him by his good friend Leo Fender.
