Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water is heralded as one of the greatest homes in America. The Early Show goes behind closed doors with an intimate look at this living museum. Russ Mitchell reports.
I was there not long ago and our guide annouced there was going to be a dinner party for the people who care for this magnificant house. I asked her what it would take to partake of this she just laughed and said I'd have tp work there. Ahhh, just to have some dinner and a few glasses of wine in this setting. The house is old, but so far ahead of it's time on design. We were told to attempt to re-create this masterpiece would cost nearly 30 million.
I HATE how he said Frank Lloyd Wright was "Responsible" for some of America's greatest Architecture. He was praised!! responsible sounds like a bad thing, but too late now. Simple people cannot fully grasp the amazment of Falling water.
@chas826 Even though we who live here call this the Laurel Highlands, Fallingwater IS technically in the Appalachian Basin region of the Appalachian Mountain range, so CBS was correct.
In Western Pennslyvania we call this area the "Laurel Highlands".....not the Appalachian Mountains. Fallingwater is an American Jewel....and its open to the public! Its beautiful...Fallingwater should be on your top ten list of 'must see' destinations in the US.
Who cleans the moss from the stone work and the concrete?
