  • In the uk it's not illegal to have blue lights fitted to your car but it is illegal to use them on any public highway (and that also applies now to privately owned roads for public use such as tesco carpark). On your own drive you can flash away to your hearts content but as soon as you leave it then dont be surprised if you get pulled, even if theyre not being used because theres a chance you could still be arrested under suspicion of impersonating a police officer, so just be careful.

  • @ensayers True. You might have it in your car and not use them, but you will still get a hard time. And if they find that it is wired, they will most probably charge you.

  • Nice car.

Do you by any chance know the rules and regs for running blue lights on cars in UK as i would like to fit some?

  • @bahhumbug10 Usually it's a simple and standard rule globally: You have to be a sworn in police/traffic offial or reservist. And most likely only when you have the local station commander's permission may you use it in a responsible manner within your juristicional area.

So unless you are one of the above, don't fit blue lights - cops are very very jealous and don't take lightly to persons posing as police officials. Fat shit...

  • @ysman007 Thanks, I've been looking for a straight awnser for some time.

  • @bahhumbug10 No problem mate. Become a reservist, and you'll have lots of benefits.

  • @bahhumbug10 theoretically yes as long as when you use them their is a reason

  • @tragier Ok so I can theoretically fit emergency lights with no certificate or other paperwork needed as long as they are only used in an emergency?

  • but some police can be dicks sometimes and will try to intimidate you but read the lighting regulations and as long as you know the law you will be alright

  • The only times when you can use your blue flashing light are when you are: * at the scene of an emergency * responding to an emergency * wanting to let people know that there is a hazard on the road

  • There is no authority that issues permission to use blue, green or amber lights on your vehicle. You must just follow the law. Any driver can drive using blue lights without needing any higher qualification that a driving license.
