A solution to the Karnataka crisis continued to elude the BJP central leadership even after a high-level meeting aimed at settling the feud between the states two warring factions, one led by the Reddy brothers and the other by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, failed to cut ice. The top brass of the party were engaged in day-long discussions with the dissidents, led by Karnataka Tourism Minister G Janardhan Reddy, but the group stuck to its guns. The BJP core group including BJP president Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and Lok Sabha BJP deputy leader Sushma Swaraj held a two-hour meeting at the residence of Leader of Opposition L K Advani, but failed to break the deadlock.
