  • eagle claw is cool. but can't be used ina fight unless u are super quick and have super fast reactions to be able to block yr opponents hits.

I mean in real life. if somebody wants to fight u seriously. I mean winner goes home looser goes to the hospital kinda fight u know. then if u dont have speed and fast reactions u will loose. unless yr ofc u have an advantage of somekind. like yr a big guy and the other one is a little boy :P

  • that's why you practice, to become super quick and have super fast reactions. Not that all practioners practice enough to get there.

  • Comparing MMA & TMA (Traditional Martial Arts) is like comparing apples & oranges. TMA have 3 aspects: health, art & self-defense. Sadly, TMA has made the mistake of assuming that all 3 aspects can co-exist; which of course they can't. Self-defense doesn't necessarily require peak fitness (which is why many fighters (e.g. Kimbo Slice) perform badly in MMA events; art won't necessarily do much for your waistline (e.g. kempo teachers); health won't make you Bruce Lee and so on.

  • The problem with nearly all the gung-fu styles of today is that without the special discipline training that they have in each style, to get a super grip as in Eagle Claw and cutting, same for real Tiger style, the finger breaking ability and internal power of the Crane and just about any other style, even if you outskill your opponent, you won't do so much damage. That's why BL went NUTS working on strength, endurance and punching and kicking power, something missing from most arts today.

  • @intactGB mma is a sport you idiot. dont compare sports to fighting.

  • @intactGB and yes there is even defense to the take-down. Know i am not one to say mma sucks but i hear mixed martial artist boost all the time over sport fighting. Don't you think that's a little out dated. How about this if you are so good i dare you i simply dare you to find a good traditional stylist and challenge him to a fist fight but even that would be bullshit.

  • @intactGB That's total bullshit. Debunked? You do realize that mma has elements found in traditional styles yet traditional styles to idiots like you are complete bullshit. So your saying that people who study traditional martial arts can not defend themselves? Tell me what does sport fighting have anything to do with street fighting. Sure your ability to submit a fighter may be strong but in the streets you can use whatever works. You do realize there is endless weapons.

  • @intactGB and when you're 35, you'll never be able to fight again because of the brain damage and arthritis. well, as far ass mma and muay thai go. and arts that focus on grappling can only go so far. you practice mma by getting the shit beat out of you and doing likewise to others. traditional martial arts are much, much more.

  • @orlanskimer Pai Mei techniques were drawn from the tiger and leopard Southern Shaolin Kung Fu styles. Eagle Claw was developed with Northern Fan-Tzi Chuan style by general Yue Fei hundreds of years before the legend of Pai Mei!

  • MMA has debunk many of these ancient martial arts. I suggest you learn mixed martial arts muay thai, boxing, bjj, wrestling, or judo

  • I disagree. A dedicated practitioner with a competent teacher can learn to fight with Kung Fu in the span of a few months. This is far from mastering a style, but some notable increase in unarmed combat skill should be apparent after at least the first 2 months of training. While combat is not all there is to Kung Fu, it is the means of measuring if you are really learning what you are taught (or if what you are taught is really worth learning) and a very important part of the greater whole.

  • I practiced this about 7 years ago, the style of fighting has stayed with me. You aim to disable the opponent. Only managed to get 3 of the principles down.
