This is a basic sword spin. I don't use this much in my practice that much due to arthitis in my fingers and thumbs, but i noticed some people are interested in the spinning. hey it does look cool. so these are the two basic versions i know. enjoy and please practice safely at all times.

  • how can the saya stay so horizontally in the obi?

  • @shadowrubik why wouldnt it? also helps to have a little belly. ^^

  • @lennybruce8 i don´t do iaido or kendo so im a rookie^^ does the hakama hold the katana too?

  • @shadowrubik the obi does. which is under the hakama. in this video however i think i'm not wearing my obi.

  • wow how cool!! NOTT

a spinning technique like this would be one of the LAST things I would teach ANYONE with an actual blade, if i had too much time on my hands that is

  • @Kiznae youre right, my father just died of cancer, i was unemployed. i had way too much time on my hands...so i decided to share knowledge with people that would appreciate it. if youre not one of them its much nice if you closed your window in silence rather than showing your narrow-mindedness to the world AND possibly hurting someones feelings by being cold hearted.

  • @GeoVII noto can be argued as well. there are many styles of noto and speeds.

its been argued by well established sensei even that present day noto is ridiculous with its high speed.

the spin is a spin. thats all. the spin i preformed is no more dangerous than some noto and batto.

there's no debate needed about this. its a fun and interested technique. period.

  • wow you have arthritis and can still use that sword better than i can

  • @hmfr34k people are people. there's no manner on the internet for some. makes me wonder how they behave daily towards others.

  • The comments speak a lot of the open mindedness and skepticism of some iaido practitioners (or people who would like to be perceived as such). How one should be so hostile towards something outside of their experience is beyond me.

  • That was pretty cool, can you show other spins? That would be awesome.

  • you sound like the pervert who lives next door...
