Great Dunmow Round Table and friends rode a 104-seater pedal-powered vehicle to set a new world record, then rode the front section in relays of 40 riders at a time from Norwich to Great Dunmow in Essex.
The two events have raised GBP 40,000 in sponsorship for local and overseas charities; if you would like to add to this total, go to www.justgiving.com/gddrt/donate.
The bike was built by Alloy Fabweld Ltd, with the tremendous support of their staff.

  • Brilliant stuff! :) Did that also break the record for slowest road-going vehicle? and the record for causing the most traffic jams and hold-ups on the roads in East Anglia too?

  • Yes, it did cause the odd holdup on hills but. hey, it was a quiet October Sunday. on the level and downhill it was quite swift - 25-30mph. It has two car gearboxes, so it can cope with mountains (very slowly) and motorways (a bit less slowly, but illegally).

For more inf, try searching for "largest bike (remix)" and "100 Seater Bike" on this site.

  • Also "Biggest Bike In The World. World Record Holders". I didn't get any video of the world record ride at Duxford, but someone else did!

  • wats the mileage on this thing??

  • The distance covered by this front section (40 riders) from Norwich to Dunmow was 103 miles. The World Record for largest pedal-powered vehicle, with 104 riders (shown in the still photo towards the end of the 'remix' video) was over 700m in a straight line along the runway at Duxford Airfield.

  • The World Record — officially recognised by Guinness World Records — is for the "largest pedal-powered vehicle".

OK, so it isn't actually a 'bicycle', but it's pretty impressive.

  • gear it up?

  • i bet thats fast down hill

  • Excuse me, but "bike" or "bicycle" refers to a two-wheeled vehicle, so technically this is NOT a bike/bicycle.

  • I sure hope they don't replace buses with that thing....

  • Well, that's one way to avoid the cost of gasoline...

  • With all the people on that there should be alot of torque to be able to gear it for a little speed.

  • Thank you for this it makes me believe there is help for the human race.
