EMG vs. Seymour Duncan - Active vs. Passive Pickups - Part 1 of 3

This is the first chapter of my comparison between active EMGs and passive Seymour Duncans.

I'm using these guitars:

. ESP M-II (Japan) with active EMG 81 pickups (bridge and neck).

. Jackson King V KV2 (USA) with passive JB TB-4 (bridge) and JB SH-4 (neck) Seymour Duncan pickups.

To make sure we have an accurate comparison, my Jackson King V and ESP M-II have similar specs and setup:

1. Both have alder body and maple neck.
2. Both have the original Floyd Rose made by Schaller.
3. Both are equipped with Ernie Ball strings.
4. I'm playing both with a Line 6 Spider amp using the "Insane" distortion and clean mode. No noise gate or pedals.

In this first chapter, I compare the sound of the bridge pickups playing rhythms, riffs, solos and clean parts.

I am getting the Ibanez grga32t with Edge 3 tremolo and Passive humbuckers. They are the magnet pickups tho. I use to have a BC Rich Warlock and I believe aI am getting a good replacement guitar. For me the magnet pickups are good metal playing.

@JerryLeeEx It is weird. I have always loved passives, but I like the magnetic pickups better. I love the metal sound they give.

I was thinking of getting an 81 85 combo instead of the JB Jazz but after hearing this I think I might stick with my original choice....

@Zero10814 Get a noise cancellation pedal to stop that from happening. Sometimes buzz is inevitable. For example, I play single coils and there will be buzz but with a noise cancellation pedal, i don't hear it.

@REX05011 it's because the pre-amp colours your tone, making them sound the same in any guitar. EMG active pickups will sound the same in a Les Paul made of Mahogany, and they will sound the same in a King V made of Alder.

el limpio del pasivo me gusta mas que el del activo...en distorsión algunas cosas mas el activo que el pasivo...y vis y versa ..xD
