don't be fowled by what you see. I have a 2013 accord, they system is too sluggish and the apps are very slow. The Facebook app is useless and the voice is annoying.

You can use your smart phone as the physical link, or on some models of cars a built in device.

Or other options as available.

No, there is no "magic" update to enable this on older cars, it is an application, nothing more.

So, your 1979 civic is not suddenly going to get the internet.

Nope. HondaLink will require a smartphone for access. You can read about it here:

I don't know how Honda will accommodate people who don't have/want smartphones. Maybe they'll offer built-in 4G/3G data modems as an accessory.

Says it doesn't require your smartphone. So my question is how much will Honda charge for this service if connectivity is built into the car? I doubt older models will get any updates. All Honda does is update points of interest on newer navigation dvds they haven't and don't ever update the user interface or display. They seem to be outdone by competitors and are at times years behind in technology. They didn't even integrate a usb for iPods into accord til 2009 model.
