The driving force behind the creation of the Spread the Net campaign, The Honourable Belinda Stronach is a community, business and public leader who cares deeply about Canada and the broader issues of quality of life. A key fundraiser for Jeffrey Sach's Millennium Villages Project, she has toured poverty and disease-afflicted regions in Africa and seen the impact hat a simple bednet can have on children.
In 2004, TIME Magazine ranked Belinda as one of the world's 100 most influential people. In 2005, the Women's Executive acclaimed Belinda a "trailblazer" and one of Canada's top 100 most powerful women. Belinda is the former President and CEO of Magna International Inc., one of the largest global suppliers of automotive systems and components in the world.
Belinda jumped feet first into public life in 2004, ran for the leadership of a national political party, has been elected by her peers twice as a Member of Parliament, and has been a senior Cabinet minister in government. She is now a leading member of the Liberal Party of Canada and Chair of the national caucus of women Liberal MPs.
