Part 1 of 5:

A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors production footage. This behind the scenes look at the making of Dream Warriors is unique in it's raw, gritty, unedited presentation. You will see various effects tests, and even a set tour.

This was filmed by one of the unit directors of the film using a home video camera of the time. Hence, the low quality of the footage.

A few short clips from this video have been floating around the net and on YouTube for some time now, but I am one of the original curators of the 74 minute source tape. I bought it from a lady online in 1998 who didn't really understand what it was, but said the tape had been around her place for many, many years. All she knew was that "Freddy" was in it, and so not being a horror fan herself, but knowing this tape was unique, thought someone else might like it and she was right!

So, finally, here is the whole tape, all 74 minutes, in 5 parts. Enjoy!

  • Thank you 80sDream this is so cool to see all this old footage....

I think part 3 is the scariest one of the whole series, the puppet part is something

I can't watch to this day and I am 30! But this behind the scenes footage is great thanks a lot.

  • @shadowman2192

I'm glad you enjoy it, shadowman, and you're very welcome. Dream Warriors is definately my favorite in the Elm Street series. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd highly rcommend checking out the newest 4 hour Nightmare on Elm Street documentary called, "Never Sleep Again". It chronicles all the films in great detail, dedicating about a half hour to each entry.

  • It is fascinating to have a look behind the scenes of such a classic horror movie. Btw, it is a good thing that videos can now be up to 15 min, instead of just 10 min.

  • @Firithfenion

I'm glad you enjoy it, Andreas. When I saw this the first time, I was impressed with all the little things shown that don't typically appear in a making of type documentary. This has never been publicly released and probably never will be because of the low quality. I too appreciate the new 15 minute allowance.

  • What is this? Like a behind the camera documentary?

  • @tsjoencinema

Exactly, Tordur. This is what I'm going to send to you in the mail, only you'll have the highest quality DVD transfered from the source VHS.

  • amazing footage especially around 6:30

often i wonder who gets to keep the old props etc like the freddy snake and where it would be stored?

it would be great to be able to go and see all of the old special effects stuff from iconic films.

  • I think you're MY hero! Thank you for uploading this.

  • @80sDream wow, Rick. That's awesome. Sounds like a cozy Christmas is in store for me haha
