  • No disrespect intended but Skeeter Davis sings this GREAT Dolly Parton Composition a hundred times better. In my opinion, "Skeeter Davis" was one of the GREATEST Female Vocalists of ALL time, not to mention, one of the most WONDERFUL Women to ever walk this Earth !!! She's singing with the "GREAT CHOIR" above now. I just LOVE her to bits !!!

  • Hey, it's cool. Everyone's entitled to an opinion! I'm a huge Dolly fan,(obviously :p but sometimes I find other artists renditions of songs better too :)

  • Skeeter WHO? NOBODY can even touch the hem of her dress.

  • @spadinajack You should remember that the song was really written for Skeeter Davis so maybe you can see why you would think that way but Davis has influence Dolly often said she is a writer that sings

  • Most awesome voice I've ever heard coming out of the most beautiful woman I've ever seen!!! Wow, this is an angel singing!!!

  • Dolly is the best singer in country and in any genre !

  • oldies..great

  • Dolly ha this ability to feel the songs she sings! she makes it sound like the words are comin straight from her heart! its amazin how she makes songs her own !!! just amazing

  • I always thought Skeeter's version was good, but seemed less passionate and emotional than Dolly's version. And passion is what this song's all about!

  • I hear this song for first time and i think: yes everytime i listen to a Dolly,s song, she adds fuel to my flame for her and for her voice...!!

  • ...i agree skeeter's reading is more tender and meaningful...!

  • I'm both a Dolly and Skeeter fan; Skeeter sings it better. It is in a lower key and hence the subtle tones and pathos is brought out much better. Nothing taken from Dolly, but Skeeter singing it in a lower register gives the song much more meaning.
