@twooffour Who said i was defending them?

Consider the racist opinion?

There's nothing "brutal" about the Fire riff. It sounds brutal, but isn't all that special on paper.

... arose along with Metallica, under influence from fast-paced punk.
Here's some old-school metal for you:

Calmer, and with some "bluesy" sounds on occasion.
I guess it's kinda stupid that this metal is closer to rock than death metal, while carrying the same label, but hey, we didn't invent the terms.

Yea, that happens as well, and you don't condemn people for "switching their outlooks". ;)
Having that said, your contention is fallacious for two reasons:
1) Would your attitude change if they'd changed the name of their band, and if yes, how big of a deal would a gimmicky name change from "Metallica" to "Rednecka" really be when judging their musical output? Even though that would've been kind of awesome on its own.
2) The Loads are still metal - just not the thrash metal that...
-
The only reason I can think of is that it's a bit too long and a bit too dull / the same at places.
Ronnie is one of the "shiniest" songs on the album.
Not my opinion, but I can understand why others might consider these albums inferior.

Ah, the idol defender again. You know they don't need you to protect their status as "millionaires in the music industry", right?
-
I think Black Album was the campiest of them all (even though that didn't apply to all songs), Load was more mature again.
-
James always seems really shy to me.

I fuckin' adore their thrash era but man, but how can ANYONE dislike Load and ReLoad is beyond my understanding. I guess I'm really stupid then
The thing thatpisses me off most is all those assholes sayin' " everything after Justice sucks " ..well to all you fuck- heads, get your head out of your ass and LISTEN before you speak. The Load era was an awesome time. The band was expanding and maturing creatively. You have to grow as a musician, even Mustaine has.. just listen to Countdown..
Puppets cannot be the band forever, I will enjoy Load 1 & 2, and the black album and for all those that can't get their heads out of their ass.. oh well
