In 2000, 189 governments made the historic commitment to half extreme poverty by 2015. We are halfway to the deadline, but poverty still kills 50,000 people every day. We can be the generation that ends poverty. We must act now!

it is a strong video with a strong message, however there are too many charities, and we can only help through charties, however we cannot give to them all, they should merge more so what we do can help a wider range

You are right that there are a lot of charities, but the message of the video is that to truly end poverty, governments must act on their existing promises. Keep giving where you can, but your voice and vote can be stronger than your pocket book when it comes to changing policy so we can really change this injustice.

can't stop poverty as long as we continue to let elitists hijack governments taxing common to literal death. They control the CREATION OF MONEY and BANKING! The best way to stop poverty is stopping the ignorance. People are just too brainwashed and utterly ignorant. Poverty is a very easy issue to deal with. The earth provides more than enough for everyone on the planet. Giving your money to some organization will NEVER solve the problem. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!!!

It would be nice if we could end poverty, but right now we've got more pressing concerns, like global warming and peak oil. Plus, it's their fault they're so poor. No one obligates them to have so many children they can't feed. And it's no use to pump money into their countries if it will end up in the hands of their corrupt politicians.

My point is, its easy to take a stance on something, however its much more difficult to live for it! The worlds governments have always taken stances and made promises that they dont follow-through on. Let us not do the same! It starts with ME, It starts with YOU, It starts with US! Let us not leave it up to the governments but rather pull together and change the world!

It is a fact, that most poor ppl living on our streets in the US live better than those in 3rd world countries. yet here we sit on a pious soapbox and say it is too hard and too big a feat to stop something like poverty. You comfort yourselves by saying we are all just dreamers or unrealistic. well i say that YOU are the reason poverty still exists! It is your fault that we have this epidemic. you will learn of that i am sure! Shame on you! my message is simple, yet clear. IN MY NAME!

Technological advances have been able to perform marvelous tasks for us, but has it been really life changing? It is ironic that a modern, intelligent society as ours has not been able to end hunger and poverty in the world. Every day we are losing precious people because of poverty. It is outrageous that in 2008 people are still struggling to satisfy basic needs for life substance. It is our responsibility to protect each other from suffering and extinction as God's instruments that we are.

End Poverty, arrest the crooked bankers and garnish their ill-gotten money. that would stop poverty and starvation and nobody would miss them at all while they sit in jail.

I completely agree with this video. It is pertinent to aid in ending poverty and 'Being the Generation' that does what none other could do!

natesohl, they are talking about extreme poverty in this vid, not welfare poverty. When you talk about bad decisions how many children do you think chose to be born into this? Whereas I agree with your thoughts on foolishness, its clear from your statement that you have never experienced the kind of desperation that these people live in.

There are no jobs for girls that have to walk 16 miles daily to fetch water, and thus cannot go to school and to be educated...for jobs that don't even exist anyways. Open your eyes.
